Tree Pruning

I offer annual tree pruning services, and am insured up to 6 metres in height. A comprehensive pruning, coppicing and pollarding service is offered, which I am NPTC City & Guilds qualified to carry out.

Most tree pruning is carried out during the autumn and winter period, with the exception of cherry trees, walnuts, maples, birch and horse chestnut, which are usually pruned mid to late summer.

For the record, coppicing is the regular pruning of a tree close to ground, to encourage strong, basal shoots to grow. Pollarding is the pruning of a tree back to it’s main stem or branch framework, stimulating new shoots at this level.

Food for thought, has your tree or trees got a Tree Preservation Order? A tree preservation order (TPO) is an order made by local planning authority in England to protect specific trees, groups of trees, or woodlands, which prohibits any work being carried out on the tree, without written consent from local authority, even if it’s your neighbour’s tree overhanging your property, you must get permission first. Fines can be up to £20.000 if tree is removed, or can carry lower fines of £2,500 if tree is pruned without written consent.
